Day 01
Arrive in
Paro-Arrive in Paro. Meet/ assist at
the airport and transfer to the hotel.
After lunch visit Paro Rinpong Dzong :
This is the seat of the district
administration as well as the home for
the monastic school. The central tower
(Utse) of the Dzong, with its superb
woodwork, is one of the most beautiful
in the nation. The Dzong was built in
1645 A.D. Drive 16 Km from Paro town
to visit the Drugyel Dzong - ruined
fortress. The dzong, although in
ruins, holds great historical
significance. It was from this
fortress that the Bhutanese repelled
many Tibetan invasions. On a clear day
this spot offers a magnificent vista
of Mount Chomolhari, "Mountain of
Goddess" (Alt. 7329 m). In the evening
walk through Paro town and have dinner
at a local restaurant. Return to the
hotel for overnight stay. |

Day 02
Paro- In the
morning take a hike to Taktsang
Monastery. The name Taktsang means
"Tiger's Nest'. The monastery is
perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer
drop of nearly 800 m. It is said that
in the second half of the 8th century,
Guru Padma Sambbava alighted here upon
the back of a tigress. Picnic Lunch at
Taktsang cafeteria. The round trip
hike takes about 4 hrs. After Tiger’s
Nest, visit the National Museum (Ta-Dzong).
The Museum was the former watch tower
for the Rinpong Dzong. It was
converted into the National Museum in
1968. The museum stands on a
promontory overlooking the Paro valley
in all its glory. Evening transfer to
the hotel in Thimphu for overnight
stay. |

Day 03
Thimphu-
Morning embark on a tour of Thimphu.
After lunch hike to Tango Monastery.
You can also see the Druk Desi
Gyaltsen Tenzin Rabgye, an
eight-year-old boy who is the
reincarnate of the 16th-century monk
who built Tango. In the evening return
to the hotel in Thimphu. Overnight
stay at hotel. |

Day 04
Thimphu /
Wangdue Transfer to Wangdue (3 hours
drive). The drive takes about 3 hours.
En route stop at Dochula Pass (3150
m), 30 Km from Thimphu, for tea and
biscuits and enjoy a view of the
Eastern Himalayan mountains. From
Dochula to Punakha, it’s another two
hours drive. After lunch in Lobesa,
visit the Punakha Dzong. This is the
winter residence of Bhutan’s spiritual
leader, the Head Abbot, and the
Central Monastic Body. The Dzong is
built between two rivers known as
“Phochu” (Male River) and “Mochu”
(Female River). After Punakha take a
short hike to Chhi-Med Lhakhang in the
picturesque Lobesa valley, to visit
the temple of one of Bhutan’s foremost
saints, Lama Drukpa Kunley, also known
as the “Divine Madman”. Overnight stay
at hotel. |

Day 05
Wangdue /
Trongsa Transfer to Trongsa (5-6 hours
drive) . Lunch at a Local Lodge. Visit
Trongsa Dzong and its imposing watch
tower. Trongsa Dzong is administrative
seat of the district and the home of
the monastic school. Built at split
levels on a narrow spur, the Dzong is
an architectural wonder. The watch
tower, located directly above the
Dzong, has on display many interesting
armors and other weapons of war used
by ancient warriors. Overnight stay at

Day 06
Drive back to
Gangtey Valley This is a beautiful
valley and it is also the winter
habitat for black-necked cranes which
migrate from Tibet between October and
early March. Visit the Nature
Conservation Centre to learn about the
black-necked cranes which migrate from
Tibet between October and early March.
Also visit the Gangtey Monastery and
the local carpet factory. Visit a farm
house for local hospitality. Overnight
stay at the hotel |

Day 07
Thimphu /
Paro Transfer to Paro via Thimphu to
visit the National Library where
ancient manuscripts are preserved and
the Takin Reserve of the national
animal of Bhutan. After lunch visit
the Textile Museum and the Arts and
Crafts School/Painting School.
Evening: drive to Paro. Visit a farm
house for traditional hot stone
bath.Overnight stay at the hotel.
